I’m back again dog lovers, with findings of another dog food product that you may or may not heard about. To be honest, this particular product called Dr. Tim’s Dog Food was one that I had not heard much about.
As a result of this, I decided to research this product in great detail, and hopefully supply some answers to you along the way. In this article, I will answer the following questions: Who is this Dr. Tim,? Who makes this product,? What products are available? What type of ingredients are used in their recipes,? What type of reviews is this product getting,? and Where can you purchase this product?
Dr. Tim… Who Is This Guy?
I had no idea who, or what kind of doctor this Tim could be. Turns out our mystery man is actually a veterinarian and also a successful musher. What in the world is a musher? Well, a musher is actually someone who rides in a sled behind a team of sled dogs.
See the connection here? We now have a veterinarian who also spends a great deal of time around working dogs. From my understanding, the dogs that drive these sleds must be strong and possess a great deal of energy.
As a vet, Dr. Tim saw the connection between food and the stamina required for the working dog. He decided to do something about this, and got busy in formulating recipes that would accomplish this. As a result, Dr. Tim’s dog food came to be. Check out Dr. Tim in the video below:

Dr. Tim’s Dog Food… The Ingredients
Labeled as a premium dog food, the Dr. Tim recipes are formulated with the belief that the company is only using ingredients that are natural and wholesome. Let’s go ahead and take a deeper look into these ingredients:
- Chicken Meal – This will be the first ingredient you find when you take a look at the ingredient label. Chicken Meal, according to Wikipedia, “is the dry rendered product from a combination of clean chicken flesh and skin with or without accompanying bone, derived from whole carcasses of chicken, exclusive of feathers, heads, feet and entrails. Its protein content is much higher than regular chicken because most of the water has been removed.” This specific ingredient is a healthy and nutritional choice for dog owners.
- Brown Rice – This ingredient provides a source of carbohydrates to our dogs. The Brown Rice supplies a quick and healthy source of energy, and is highly digestible. In addition, this ingredient provides a healthy source of minerals and vitamins.
- Whole Oat Groats – Once again, a high source of carbohydrate that is also easy for your furry friend to digest. Rich in fiber as well, this ingredient helps to regulate blood glucose and provides your pet with a good source of energy.
- Dried Field Peas – The peas in these recipes bring a few things to your dog’s diet that should not be overlooked. This includes a good source of protein and carbohydrates which is also easy on your dog’s tummy. Peas provide some quality key vitamins including Vitamins A, B6, C, and K. This is key for vision, the immune system, protein digestion and the immune system.
Obviously, there a number of other ingredients that goes into each recipe, but I wanted to give you an idea of the type of ingredients you will find within the Dr. Tim’s recipes. This is just a sample, and keep in mind that some recipes will differ in ingredients, but this is a fair representation.
As a dog owner myself, reading the ingredient label on the back of the bag is something I always take the time to do. The first four to five ingredients listed should give you an idea of what type of food is contained within the bag. In my opinion, the first four ingredients listed within this recipe represent a healthy source.
Dr. Tim’s Dog Food Reviews… Here’s What They Are Saying
Let’s be honest, you are always going to find a few people who feel differently about a specific product no matter the reviews. There are individuals out there that will have nothing nice to say about a Rolls Royce or a seven million beach house property.
The same can be said for any dog product, including this one. With that out of the way, I looked into the type of reviews (Positive & Negative that Dr. Tim’s dog food was receiving that I have listed below. These are actual customers who have used this product and have posted their reviews. Let’s take a look:
- Chewy Customers: These reviews originate from 108 customers who have tried and used the Dr. Tim’s Active Dog Pursuit recipe. Of these 108 customers, 86% have given this product a 5 Star out of a possible 5 Star rating.
- Amazon Customers: I found this to be strange, but there is only one review posted on this specific recipe. This individual gave it a 5 Star out of a possible 5 Star rating.
- PetFlow Customers: Again, a minimal amount of users (12) have posted a review regarding the Active Dog Pursuit recipe. Nine of these users gave it a 5 Star while the other 3 posted a four star rating.
Although not a huge number in total reviews, but what we do have suggest that those dog owners who have used this recipe seem to be quite pleased.
